While working on my short film KUN JE HET ZIEN / CAN YOU SEE IT,
I felt the need for a location that would feel hostile and alienating
to both the main character and the viewer.
I started scouting locations and came across this neighborhood with large concrete buildings.
The symmetrical, empty passageways felt like liminal spaces,
and I knew I had found my shooting location.
When I looked at the photos I had taken of the buildings,
I got the idea to make them black and white.
Shapes and structures became more apparent
and the place started exuding an air of brutalism.
Because of these photos, I decided that my short film KUN JE HET ZIEN / CAN YOU SEE IT
would be in black and white.
